Stoney Creek Children's Club is a summer camp designed by local Stoney Creek families for children in the area. It is intended to provide fun, adventure-filled outdoor experience for children between the ages of 5 and 13. The programs draw from nature schools thinking, Montessori pedagogy, and project-based learning to promote confidence and curiosity, all while having a blast!
Participants will enjoy a wide range of activities over the two weeks. See our About page for additional details and be sure to register early!
Stoney Creek Children's Club will offer programs at Battlefield Park this year, conveniently located at 77 King Street West, Stoney Creek ON L8G 5E5.
Campers are encouraged to wear weather appropriate clothing as they will enjoy the outdoors each day in keeping with nature pedagogy. However, in case of inclement weather, Battlefield park has a steel pavilion to provide shelter and seating, as well as two solid concrete walls bracketing the pavilion in case of severe winds. In case of emergency, there is an on site building with indoor access that can offer shelter as well.
Please see our 'Fees' page for full-time costs. Part-time programs are subject to availability. Fees are designed to ensure affordability for families while providing rich, holistic programming for campers to ensure that they have an enjoyable, adventure-filled summer!
The camp will be supervised by qualified teaching professionals who are certified either as an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT), Montessori trained (AMI or MACTE) or Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE). Supervisors will be supported by senior and junior camp counsellors and specialty-program educators (nature, physical activity, art). All camp supervisors are required to have a recent vulnerable sector check and active First Aid training.
Ratio of staff to students will be kept low to maximize participant support and enjoyment of the programmes.
Stoney Creek Children's Club was established in Summer, 2024, and designed through conversations among Stoney Creek parents who wanted enjoyable summer camp options that offered nature programming for their children. It continues to build on advice of the community so share your feedback with us!
We have two options for participants:
1. Full-time summer program that is 2 weeks long
2. Weekly registration
3. Part-time registration (subject to availability)
A third week will become available once the first two weeks are at capacity or if a sufficient number of students request this week.
To confirm your child(ren)’s space, please fill out the registration form and submit the payment either online or by e-transfer to info@stoneycreekchildrensclub.ca. Parents/guardians will receive additional details in advance of the start date.
Staff and site contracts are booked based on registered participants. As a result, all fees are subject to a 50% non-refundable fee before March 14th. Fees are 100% non-refundable after March 14th, 2025. Requests for changes of schedule are accommodated based on available spaces.
Each camper should bring:
- Refillable water bottle (preferably one that can hold the temperature of the water in case it is hot)
- Packed lunch and two snacks (nut-free and stored in a food safe way)
- Sunscreen
- Change of clothes
- Hat
- Close-toed outdoor shoes
- Water clothing (for water play dates, which will be communicated in advance)
Campers will spend the day outdoors but certainly not always in the sun. Programs will rotate between the shaded pavilion, the beautiful park, and the creek. We intentionally around the facilities each day to ensure children are regularly in the shaded areas. We also actively monitor the wellbeing of campers and err on the side of caution. We know the summer can be hot and we are ready to enjoy it safely!
