Stoney Creek Children’s Club is excited to offer this summer camp in natural spaces in Stoney Creek. Nature-based learning promotes sensory development and experiential learning. It builds self-confidence, strength, and coordination. It is a fun, immersive way to learn STEM. In addition to a carefully-designed nature program, children will enjoy a variety of sports, collaborating on special projects, and a rich arts and crafts program.
A week-by-week schedule is below. This schedule is subject to minor edits based on the availability of instructors and speakers for special events.
Week 1: STEM and "Survival" [July 20th - July 24th]
Explore it!
Campers will explore the natural environment from a STEM lens - what plants do we see? Which insects? What do their habitats look like? Snails anyone?! They will conduct guided experiments and indulge in all things natural-science!
Campers will also learn about navigating the outdoor space, receive some junior First Aid training, and create their own specialized "survival" kit!
Week 2: Kidpreneur Week [July 27th - July 31st]
Imagine it!
A summer favourite! Campers will create craft and goods in preparation for our annual Kidpreneur market. They will learn the ins and outs of marketing, crafting, and creating alongside building a group relationship and immersing themselves into the natural surroundings.
Campers will also get to hear from local business owners and imagine how they might design their own future businesses/foster their own interests.
Week 3: Art in the Park [August 4th - August 7th]
Design it!
Campers will explore the various art mediums with an art educator including charcoal, cartooning, and painting. They will be encouraged to think about the natural environment, consider how they might use art mediums to tell a story, and connect it with the story of nature around them.
All registered families and their friends are welcome from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm on August 8th to enjoy the Kidpreneur market and Art Show. Don't miss it!
